I am moved to interrogate who has authority and who is considered a part of the mathematical community, combat erasure and homogenization of current and past developers of mathematics, and demystifying material by critically engaged teaching that is accessible and relevant to those kept from engaging with it. I adore reengaging the dynamic learners in our neighborhoods, especially those often pushed out and historically erased from the mathematical community.

I taught a quarter of Algebra 1 that sparked my joy for teaching and implementing relevant and responsive pedagogy, which I got to share at PNW Mathematical Association of America Section Meeting and Seattle U Undergraduate Research conference. I continue to tutor precalculus students at Middle College High School through Seattle U's SUM Corps.

ENGAGEABLE DESIGNS
Engageable Designs is a phenomenal program that offers rigorous culturally congruent wonder-driven mathematics education! I teach in the 3rd-5th grade classroom at Saturday Math Academy in Rainier Beach, and in an after-school program with 1st-3rd graders in Tukwila. I also facilitate and create applied mathematics sessions at Mona Bailey Academy S.T.E.M. camps.

I facilitate weekly study groups as a teaching assistant for an Seattle U course for upper level teaching students that shows future teachers how to teach mathematics at the K-8 level.
